was born to a humble family on August 6, 1681 Lucera, an ancient city of Apulia, Daunia. He entered as a young man among the Minor convent of his native country and then complete their novitiate in Monte Sant'Angelo sul Gargano, where she made a 23 August 1696. Then, in 1703 he was sent to the convent of Assisi where he was ordained priest on September 11, 1705. Passed to Rome, in the College of St. Bonaventure, he returned to Assisi until 1707 when he returned to Lucera. Elected provincial minister, became part of an intense apostolic covering all countries of the captains and neighboring cities. Always attentive to the needs of the poor and suffering, devoted to the Virgin, was especially close to the prisoners and convicts who accompanied to the place of execution. He died November 29, 1742. Even today his tomb in the church of San Francesco in Lucera is the object of frequent pilgrimages. Beatified on April 15, 1951 by Pope Pius XII was canonized by John Paul II April 13, 1986.

Santa Caterina d'Alessandria

Alessandria d'Egitto, secoli III-IV

I testi della letteratura popolare parlano di Caterina come una bella diciottenne cristiana, figlia di nobili, abitante ad Alessandria d'Egitto. Qui, nel 305, arriva Massimino Daia, nominato governatore di Egitto e Siria. Per l'occasione si celebrano feste grandiose, che includono anche il sacrificio di animali alle divinità pagane. Un atto obbligatorio per tutti i sudditi. Caterina però invita Massimino a riconoscere Gesù Cristo come redentore dell'umanità e rifiuta il sacrificio. Non riuscendo a convincere la giovane a venerare gli dèi, Massimino propone a Caterina il matrimonio. Al rifiuto della giovane il governatore la condanna a una morte orribile: una grande ruota dentata farà strazio del suo corpo. Sarà un miracolo a salvare la ragazza che verà però decapitata. Secondo la leggenda degli angeli porteranno miracolosamente il suo corpo da Alessandria fino al Sinai, dove ancora oggi l'altura vicina a Gebel Musa (Montagna di Mosè) si chiama Gebel Katherin. Questo sarebbe avvenuto nel novembre 305.

Ecco un altro plumcake che ho fatto con la stessa ricetta che vi ho dato qui .

Questa volta non è pezzato ma tutto cioccolatoso, basta togliere della farina ed aggiungere a tutto l'impasto la stessa quantità di cacao amaro in polvere! Poi ho anche sostituito l'olio d'oliva con l'olio di mais, perchè quello di oliva è un po' troppo forte per i miei gusti.


Per quanto riguarda lo sferruzzamento invece, sto provando i miei nuovi circolari facendo un berrettino da regalare alla mia amica cubano/spagnola che ha dato alla luce la piccola Intza! Presto ve lo farò vedere :) Bacioni

Ecco il mio primo Karius finito! Ringrazio tantissimo Maria Rosa che mi ha aiutato e che mi sta aiutando con i ferri circolari!!! Ho usato due gomitoli messi da 50 gr di lana 100% merino irrestringibile, uno blu ed uno variegato sempre sul blu che conteneva anche celeste e bianco...che ne dite? Adesso è ancora un po' arrotolato tra poco lo fisso per bene. Un bacione e buona domenica!
